On May 30, we hosted our second user group conference in Asia-Pacific at École Mondiale World School in Mumbai, India. We were excited to welcome over 150 participants from 27 IB World Schools.

The day began with a keynote by Principal Philip Hudson on “It’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it; and that’s what gets results”. The talk touched on the challenges faced in international education to ensure the content and process of learning continues to be relevant for our 21st century students.

The keynote was followed by a presentation from Farah Misquitta and the leadership team at École Mondiale World School on their phased-approach in implementing ManageBac, the policies introduced, and how effective the system is being used by teachers, students and parents. A company update followed by RVenus Lai, Regional Director, Asia-Pacific.

Thereafter, Lance King, founder of The Art of Learning, led a thought-provoking discussion of ATL skills and failing well. A workshop in the afternoon offered an opportunity to develop an action plan to put these ideas into practice.

After lunch, participants went into programme-specific breakout sessions run by experienced ManageBac users from leading schools in India, including:

  • DP – Dr. Sreelaxmi Murphy & Bhavya Mayya from Jamnabai Narsee International School
  • MYP – Shelly Sachdev from Pathways School Aravali & Jitendra Pandey from Sreenidhi International School
  • PYP – Prasuna Vemuri & Rama Shinde from MIT Pune’s Vishwashanti Gurukul
  • Technology – Farah Misquitta fromÉcole Mondiale World School, Sanjeeb Mohanty from The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, & Puja Srivastava from Oberoi International School

These sessions allowed participants to gain an insight on the experiences of schools of various sizes, covering topics from system implementation plans, Government-specific requirements, to better understanding the IB philosophy.

In the late afternoon, ManageBac staff led programme-specific workshops. The day concluded with a delicious buffet dinner hosted at Sun-N-Sands Resort.

We had a wonderful time connecting with our schools in India! We were available throughout the conference to lend support, answer questions, and hear feedback. We are also very grateful to École Mondiale World School for hosting us in their wonderful facilities!
