Using Portfolios and Journals for Authentic Assessment – A ManageBac Approach
This workshop introduces teachers to the value of portfolios and journaling in education as means of authentic assessment. It showcases ManageBac as a tool for portfolio management and highlights best practices for its application in the Arts as well as other subjects looking to focus students on the process and progress of their learning. Through interactive activities, participants will create portfolio assessment tasks and learn how to organise them on ManageBac, integrating learning outcomes and reflective practices. A discussion segment encourages sharing experiences and addressing implementation challenges.

Speaker Bio
Antoinette Blain (she/her) is an educator, coach and leader in visual and expressive art education, with over 25 years experience. Originally from London, UK, Antoinette has built up a wealth of experience and passion for inclusive, creative and forward-thinking arts pedagogy. Her teaching and leadership experience is global, having taught in the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and now Kenya at both local and world-renowned international schools, including a United World College and Aga Khan Academy. From teacher, to department head, to vice principal, and now network-wide coach, Antoinette has been instrumental in driving forward arts education in both the British curriculum and across all three International Baccalaureate programs (PYP, MYP and DP) with her concept-based approaches and innovative processes. In addition, Antoinette is an IB workshop leader, school visitor and Managebac subject lead for visual art.
