What is your current affiliation and role?
Canford School (UK) – Director of Community Action
What drew you to write teaching & learning resources for us?
The work Pamoja does takes teaching to a new level. From what I can see, it will form the future of teaching. The teacher still needs to do the work but the lesson suite provides ideas and resources to get through the course.
What do you see as the principal challenge(s) in teaching the new Science curriculum?
Teaching conceptually and, as far a possible, through a lens to help set context for the content.
Looking at your subject, how does the new syllabus impact teacher planning & course delivery?
Chemistry is chemistry. The order of the syllabus has moved around but there are no real changes to the content. A lot has come out. The tools (skills and inquiry) should not be underestimated. They are with the chemistry content for a reason.
What recommendations or practical tips would you give teachers as they prepare to teach the new curriculum? (What do they need to change, incorporate or do differently?)
Don’t panic. Look at your existing work and see where it can be modified slightly to cover the requirements of the new course. Look at the tools and evaluate which ones you already do well, and also, which ones you need to develop resources for.
What needs do the materials that you are developing fulfill for students? For teachers?
There will be lesson plans, worksheets, quizzes, interactive activities and ideas for lab work.
What do you like best about the resource package that is available on ManageBac / Pamoja Study Companion for student learning & review (exam practice / theory videos / flashcards / revision guides)?
Relevant, direct, concise and to the point.
