We’re looking forward to seeing many of you at the IB Global Conference in Yokohama on March 29 – 31, 2017!
Come hear from us on our 2017 road map for ManageBac, including the new interface changes, Single-Sign-On updates, Google Drive integration, and partnership updates on iSAMS, AssessPrep, and Pamoja.
Ways to connect with us
Phase 1 of the iSAMS-ManageBac integration is now ready for our schools.
Phase 1 includes a one-way sync of core student, parent and staff information from iSAMS into ManageBac. Below is a list of fields which sync from iSAMS to ManageBac.
If your school is using iSAMS, you can now enable integration via the iSAMS Control Panel > 3rd Party Integrations > Faria > ManageBac. Please contact ManageBac or iSAMS Support if you have further questions or would like to enable the integration.
At our user group conference in Berlin this past weekend, we provided a general company update, including a review of our service in 2016, an update on our recent releases, and information about our upcoming road map. The slides are now available below.
Our integration with AssessPrep is now available to all ManageBac schools, supporting eAssessment in the Diploma Programme (DP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).
AssessPrep provides mock test creation, examination delivery, on-screen marking and exam analytics. The examination conditions directly mirror those provided by the IB in MYP eAssessment, including an offline application, a variety of question formats ranging from multiple choice to short answer questions, and interactive questions that incorporate labels, graphs, and flow-charts.
Teachers can easily mark exams, provide direct feedback to students, and review student progress through back-end analytics.
The integration between ManageBac and AssessPrep includes:
- streamlined on-boarding with seamless transfer of teacher, class, and student data from ManageBac to AssessPrep
- pre-populated IB DP & MYP syllabus topics by subject in AssessPrep
- ability to directly create practice exams from ManageBac as a teacher
- direct single-sign-on without the need to separately login via LaunchPad
Earlier this week, we announced our certification for the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) framework, which is a global standard for learning technology integrations created by IMS Global.
The new LTI integration has allowed us to offer a richer TurnItIn experience from within ManageBac.
Some of the key improvements include:
- student access to originality reports
- allowing upload for multiple drafts of the same assignment
- accessing the Turnitin user interface and accessing all features, including PeerMark & Grademark
- direct single-sign-on without the need to separately login
How do we switch to the new integration?
If your school is currently using the ManageBac-Turnitin integration, please contact email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org to assist you with enabling the new LTI integration.
Please note that we recommend doing this as soon as possible. Previous assignments will not be affected by moving to the new integration. The old integration will be phased out from September 1, 2017.
We have never used Turnitin’s integration with ManageBac. How do we get started?
Learn more on our page and browse our tutorial on enabling Turnitin integration. Please note that Turnitin charges an integration fee. We recommend first contacting Turnitin at email@example.com to enable integrations on your account.

CAS for the IB Diploma Core is managed in different ways at each school— some schools give students free reign to choose which experiences they are a part of while others assign these experiences to students. There are three recommended models for managing which CAS experiences your students are a part of through ManageBac: managed by student, managed by student & advisor and managed by advisor. We’ve outlined all three below to assist CAS coordinators in determining the best fit for your school.
Model 1: Managed by Student
In this scenario, students are solely in charge of adding their own CAS experiences. This is done on their end by going to IB Manager > CAS, and clicking Add CAS Experience.
They will manually fill out the form for their individual CAS experience and click Add CAS Experience, as seen below.
Method 2: Managed by Student & Advisor
Method 3: Managed by Advisor
